Hello from Round Rock. Since April 2026, I have been enjoying the many benefits of living in Central Texas. My formative years occurred in a middle class family in West Texas, which makes me forgiving of the extreme heat and slithery creatures living here.
Having retired from being an architect in 2008, my good fortune was spending the next eighteen years in Colorado Springs.
This website and my writing keep me busy and out of trouble. In addition to keeping up with my daily fitness routine, I am making new friends, and am open to new adventures. My experience in brief:
U.S. Navy: Several assignments during the Vietnam era, culminating as advanced jet instructor pilot at Chase Field in Beeville. Shipboard billets included the USS Marsh DE-699 and the USS Bexar APA-237 on the West Coast. Additionally, a (very) short stint in the Navy Seals training program in Coronado. Mostly, my seven years were spent flying jet airplanes, training students and landing on carriers. Widely experienced officer with responsibilities commensurate with rank. Naval Aviator # V-27816. Go Navy! A full description of the planes I flew is HERE.
Architecture: For thirty-two years, a partner with McCleary-German Architects, a 15+ person office in Houston. Our design specialty was (and continues to be) the financial industry: banks, savings associations, and credit unions. Responsibilities included design, construction documents and project management of commercial projects of every shape and size. Registered A.I.A., NCARB and A.S.I.D. Bachelor of Architecture and Master of Architecture in Urban Design, Rice University. Texas Society of Architects Design Award, 1984. For a sample of my designs see HERE.
Writing: Updated my fifth book, What, Me Happy?, in September 2025. During the research for this self-help manual, a previously unknown fact was uncovered. Most of us humans are in control of our own happiness! I started writing in 2017 and may have another one in me. To see my books (and maybe buy one, I do need the cash), click HERE.
Before downsizing and relocating, my domicile for 18 years was a sumptuous home in a beautiful city (see HERE) in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Now that I reside in Round Rock, I am happily occupying a small apartment (please call it a unit) in a modern mid-rise called The Reserve. Home ownership is in my past, thus few worries. My life is good, I am free to roam the earth. I do value my friendships. I would love to hear from you, including suggestions to improve my website.
